Level Amendment allows the user to manually adjust the stock level.
Adjustment: If the process is carried out as 'Adjustment' then upward and downward adjustment is allowed. This is normally carried out as a result of a discovery that the quantities held are not in accordance with those in the system.
Disposal: If the process is carried out as a 'Disposal' then it can only be recorded as a downward adjustment. This is normally carried out as a result of stock being recognised as obsolete.
Return: If the process is carried out as 'Return' to supplier then it can only be recorded as a downward adjustment. This option is used if parts have been received and some or all of the items are to be returned to the supplier.
Note that at the point of adjustment you will always work with individual 'held' lines. For example, if there are 12 parts that are in the system:
you will need to work with the individual held lines. Disposing of 5 of these parts would always entail two disposals. The first might specify that 4 parts supplied from A were disposed of and only 1 part from B. Or the user might specify that 4 parts were disposed of from B and 1 from A.
Reasons for adjustment and names of those carrying out the adjustment are always recorded.
