Part Types form the basis on which parts can be differentially priced within the contracts module.

 

For example:

• 'Tyres' might be contracted on at an additional 20%
• 'Consumables' might be contracted on at 15%
• 'Glass' might be contracted on at 20%

 

If there is no intention to use Freeway in a contracts environment you are advised not to use the Part Types field. The correct place to record the type of part that is used is the Componentry Schema (which provides a three tier breakdown of Type, Sub-Type and Component).
