Security within Freeway may be managed by 'Security Group' or by 'User':
Security Group: Individual 'Users' can be placed into 'Security Groups' from which their security settings are derived. There are several advantages to using 'Security Groups':
Where there are large sets of users the security does not need to be repetitively assigned to each user performing a similar role.
As the security requirement for a role is changed the 'Security Group' settings can be amended at the 'Security Group' level rather than at each individual 'User' level.
As 'Users' in the organisation change their role, their membership of 'Security Groups' can be changed.
User: In single user environments, or small organisations, you may prefer to manage security by 'User' where security is assigned to the individual. In larger organisations 'User' based security management can also be used to apply exceptions to management by 'Security Group'.
